Menshov has a twin brother, Nikita, but he is not involved in figure skating. Menshov won is first national medal, the gold, in 2011 in his ninth appearance at Nationals. Menshov dislocated his shoulder in a fall during the free skating at the 2013 World Team Trophy and could not continue his performance. He underwent surgery back home in St. Petersburg and was off the ice until June 2013.
